User Fields (eg Waist Circumference) in Garmin Connect

I am looking at purchings a Garmin Index smart scale to replace my current stand alone items. While weight is an important item to track, from a health prospective so if waist circumference. I am sure that there are other fields I have not thought of that others would also like to keep a track of.

FitBit include the ability of users to define custom data fields and manually enter information against them. My request is for the same feature to be added to Garmin Connect. Maybe with some defaults (like Waist Circumference). Even better if it could be plotted on a graph too!

Anyone else interested in this?

Yes. I would like this. For the time being, I’m keeping this information in MyFitnessPal

I also want to follow this one. This measurement is very important for everyone. Not only weight.

  • I second this.

While BMI is just useless for people with a lot of muscles, circumference of waist for a calculation of WHR is much better.

Also, would be nice to be able to add circumference for arms, legs, belly etc. and as cream topping also user defined fields.

I know, that there isnt a device to measure circumstances in a smart way, but these information could be updated manually once a week or so.

  • This option (diverse ciscumstances and other body parameters) is available in through Garmin's partner MyFintessPal. You can create a free account there, link it with the Garmin Connect account, and enter the circumstances there.

  • Im using MyFitnessPal since almost 10 years and i can hardly remember that there was WHR-functionality in the android app (but not sure). At the moment MyFitnessPal dont support tracking of circumference in the app, but only over the webinterface.

Its not a problem to open the websitefrom time to time to track circumferences, but its quiet bad that the results are not displayed in it.

Not sure what you mean. I see the graphs of the history (for diverse periods) of not only weight, but also of the neck, waist, and hips circumstances on the page https://www.myfitnesspal.com/reports. It does not work for you?

  • Sorry, my fault. What i mean is:

I can add and see these values on the website, but i can not add or see those values in the android app, and thats the point which is annoying.

Try speaking to the MFP support, perhaps they'll take a note. From my experience they are quite responsive to comments, despite me having just a free account.
