New Vivoactive won't sync

I just got a new Vivoactive. I have GarminConnect loaded on my Samsung Galaxy and followed the procedures to pair the devices. But the vivoactive won't sync. When I go into GarminConnect and into DEVICES, I don't see the vivoactive. I only see my other Garmin (910xt). If I choose 'scan for devices' it doesn't find the vivoactive. Help - what am I doing wrong?
  • Of course, you are pairing with the Connect app and not the phone - right?

    When i paired my vivoactive, it didn't find it at first so I first paired it with Express. Then I went back and tried the app again and the app found it. Even when I set it up in Express, it didn't find it right away. I unplugged the usb from my hub and plugged it back in and then it found it right away.

    It was finicky at the start.
