Hi

When connecting to https://connect.garmin.com/modern/ using firefox, I get the following response (inside the blue border):

Sorry, we encountered an internal error.

Will this explain the sync issues I'm having (via mobile app and express)

    Now Into 18 plus Hours

Still down, and past 18 hours ...
  • Auxillary Power?

Obviously this situation stinks for everyone that uses the site - and as others have stated, obviously Garmin is working on it.

As luck would have it - my current vivosmart's battery can't take a charge and this morning moved into "low battery".
The FREE replacement (under warranty) will be here tomorrow. However, if the site doesn't come back soon I'll lose a couple days worth of step/sleep data since my vivosmart won't have enough battery power to sync. Lost data might be the biggest inconvenience someone could have and while I'm not thrilled about the prospect of lost data, I am sure Garmin is trying to resolve it quickly...

Have you tried to simply connect the VivoSmart to an USB port on your computer to keep it "alive" sort of like life support? Seems that would at least let the device live off the computer power, and not on it's own, at least until you can sync.. I would imagine that plugging it into the computer would switch from "battery" power to "aux power".
    Just a thought...

  • Fenix 3 vs. Fitbit?

The step and sleep tracking is still not working. I've come from Fitbit and only had my Fenix 3 for 24 hrs. Not impressed so far. Why oh why can't we sync to the app instead of the cloud?

Honestly? You're comparing a Fitbit to a Fenix 3? I just put away my Charge HR away, (it's going on E-bay), because I like the "connectivity" of the Garmin VSHR. Fitbit only talked to Fitbit, which was a PITA if you wanted to hook up to a bike computer, power meter, or anything else that wasn't a Fitbit product. Now, with my VSHR, I can connect to my Edge 800, and my iBike Newton and have all of the data in one place, with one upload. More than worth the occasional upchuck with the software, which, by the way won't loose any data, you just can't see your data immediately. Not a problem in my case. Just sayin'

Steve - I should clarify my comment - it doesn't enter charge mode (it does hold a charge just happened to need a charge when I noticed the issue).
Have tried multiple charge clips, USB ports on multiple computers direct outlet plug-in, USB hub charger, etc.

Also I've noticed some data from yesterday has now made it onto Connect...some sleep and all steps...but nothing from today...

On my iPhone 6, I just uninstalled the connect app and reinstalled. Works fine now. We will see how long it last.

Same here, reinstalled the app, and now working.
  • The garmin servers were down. No need to restart or re-pair anything.

Not long ago, things were syncing again, and the server status shows that's it's processing the backlog.

is the place to look when stuff like this happens. There's a link to "status" on the bottom of the Garmin Connect dashboard website page.
  • I just deleted and reinstalled app and it is working now.

Re-installing makes ZERO difference! First, check the status! The servers were down starting last night for scheduled maintenance and are now coming back. (the status shows a backlog in processing steps and sleep as of right now)
