Hi

When connecting to https://connect.garmin.com/modern/ using firefox, I get the following response (inside the blue border):

Sorry, we encountered an internal error.

Will this explain the sync issues I'm having (via mobile app and express)

    Mobile access is down too...

Can't seem to login from mobile (iOS app). The status screen doesn't list the mobile service (that I can tell...) Error is "Sign In Failed" Cannot sign in. Try again later.

    Twitter

At this point communications is key and well let's be honest you have to say something or write something to communicate to your customer base. Come on Garmin this is very poor. The 5.0 app release was poor, and it's now clear that your maintenance/patching server routine hasn't gone at all well as one of the last tweets stated it would only be a little while longer some 8+ hours ago.

Garmin is very responsive about this issues on their Twitter. Of course, they keep giving the same answer, that maintenance took longer than expected and they're working on getting it back up.
  • I still cannot log onto the iPhone app...anyone else the same?

    Still down....darn the luck.
  • I can get into the app but most if not all of the screens are not working and my VA will not sync either. I did an activity today via my older 910xt on my rower and was able to successfully upload to garmin express and I can see it on the gc website on the computer but no dice yet with the app.

Obviously this situation stinks for everyone that uses the site - and as others have stated, obviously Garmin is working on it.

For the newbie's who have asked - I have had 2 vivosmarts so far this year and this is the first time I've had a Connect issue that has persisted this long so I wouldn't say this is all that common.

I am actually waiting for my 3rd vivosmart this year to arrive because my previous 2 have died (one after swimming and one because it won't take a charge)
For both I simply called Garmin, spoke to a helpful customer service rep and they immediately sent a replacement - BEFORE I sent them my broken unit!

As luck would have it - my current vivosmart's battery can't take a charge and this morning moved into "low battery".
The FREE replacement (under warranty) will be here tomorrow. However, if the site doesn't come back soon I'll lose a couple days worth of step/sleep data since my vivosmart won't have enough battery power to sync. Lost data might be the biggest inconvenience someone could have and while I'm not thrilled about the prospect of lost data, I am sure Garmin is trying to resolve it quickly...

  • The step and sleep tracking is still not working. I've come from Fitbit and only had my Fenix 3 for 24 hrs. Not impressed so far. Why oh why can't we sync to the app instead of the cloud?
  • I have had mine since June and this is the first time I have not been able to sync!
