How to import a course exported from Strava to Garmin Connect?

I am trying to import a course which I exported from Strava (as *.gpx file) to Garmin connect. The only place that I can import a file in Garmin Connect is on activity page but even when I try to import as an activity it gives me an error of: "Some activities could not be created. View all activities".

Please help. My goal is to import a course so I don't need to spend a lot of time creating a course in Garmin Connect when I have it as GPX file.

Cheers
Omid
  • Hey, It doesn't seem to be an option which is really annoying! Why Garmin can't offer this option, I don't know.

The manual upload feature you've tried to use, seems to only accept a .tcx / .gpx / .fit file which is an actual activity with speed data etc. You can however fudge the system.

Use http://www.gpsies.com/ to upload your Strava route, then re-download it from Gpsies as a .gpx

You can then upload this to Garmin (why it's any different is beyond me, but it works).

Then it will be in Garmin connect as an activity. Save this activity as a course. Voila.

Don't forget to go back the Garmin activity and delete it (unless you want it to screw your total distances etc.

For more info there is a lengthy thread here:

    JonathonBellman,

thx for your tip. I exported 2 files, one tcx and one gpx. I tried to upolad both files in Garmin Connect via the Activity screen. The tcx I get an error message, but with the gpx I do not get an error message, but the message: Some activities could not be created. Unfortunately, the gpx file is not in the list of activities.

Any idea how to solve this?
