Big thumbs down for forcing users to the New Garmin Connect?

I notice that as from January we're going to be forced to give up access to old Garmin connect pag and swithc to the busy/cluttered and poorly designed new version.

Personally, I like the simple clear layout and graphs of the old version

What do you think?

Ant.
  • Remove all info u don't want to see.

i love the new version, more colourful and it works faster.
  • The "new" version isn't really that new - it's been there since March.

As Garmin adds new devices, it's probably a pain for Garmin to maintain both versions, and 10 months is actually a long time for both to be available.

Have you used "modern" much? It's different and takes a bit to find your way around and learn, but the same stuff should be there - just a different way to get to the info..

Since I've been using Modern, I find a much better interface than the old one.
  • I also much prefer Modern. However, there have been a few times in the past when I had to revert to Classic because the function didn't work in Modern. Manually importing an activity comes to mind. I have no idea if it works yet in Modern.

Is there a tutorial page I'm not seeing? All I want to see is my running and running history, I don't care about any other feature that has been added with this new website. I tend not to have much trouble figuring this stuff out, but this layout just doesn't make any sense. I understand they want to make it as facebook as possible, but i don't need a silly facebook page and all that extra junk that goes with it. The old page was exactly what I liked. It recorded my running, I could look at my history and see progress very neat and simple.

I also lift weight and I use a little app for timing rest periods, unfortunately it records that as well and I just can't seem to figure out how to keep it from loading in my activities or even a simple Delete option to get them out. Also, for some reasons when I run in other cities it doesn't list that in my hisotry (but does under activities) and even though I ran my longest distance in Boise, it list my personal record as my home city.

I dunno, just seems half baked and focused on all the wrong things compared to the old, which is what hooked me on Garmin. But I'm not a facebook guy. So I'm just odd man out I guess

It's simple. There is a "gear" on each widget. for the ones you don't want, click on the gear and then "remove".

You missing something you want? the three horiz lines in the upper left. Select what you want, and then "add to dashboard".

You want to see something full page? click on the "gear" and then "go to full page".
  • i like old design more, clean and easy. Especially graphs.
Anyway I moved to strava, it's UI makes sense. But graphs are not too good too.

I hate hate hate the updated app!!!
  • Too bad Garmin didn't see fit to ask those of us that primarily use the old version why we do so....

Simply really - the single page summaries are great; and I still save & print them for my records which you really can't do in"modern"

I do switch to the "modern" for managing uploads when things go awry, and also designing my track session work-outs but the rest is mostly fluff(I'm too old to be modern :)

Unless "modern" adds these features I will be looking elsewhere to record my training

Too bad really - not long ago I replaced the battery in my 405 (quit an adventure) and after the battery life algorithm adjusted to the new battery (shorter charge life) it continues to be great watch.

    New Garmin Connect

Well, I don't really hate it but I sure wish widgets would render not garbled :( Oh well another update problem I suppose.
  • Never seen garbled widgets. Maybe a setting needs tweaking on your PC?
