Garmin Activity Set As Course Problem

I have an activity on Garmin connect (recorded through my Edge 1000) whose track I would like to save as a course. However, when I try saving it, the track appears to become less detailed (corners turned looks more pointy) than the original track. Is this supposed to happen by default? If so, is there any way to save a course to be just as detailed as my original track? Setting the recording interval makes the recording of my tracks more detailed but not sure if that will help with converting to a course.
