GC and Strava elevation difference

I started using Strava which has a connection to GC and uploads any new activity from my FR610.
Strava elevation on my running activities is sometimes significantly higher than that shown on GC (with elevation correction enabled). Sometimes about the same. Any ideas what can cause the difference?

Not really sure - do the tracks look the same on the map in connect and strava?

Also presumably the elevation data comes from whichever map source the two sites use so that may be different between suppliers.

The tracks may vary slightly, but anyway I'm not in the mountains or sth, i.e. moving +/- 5-10m right or left will not lead to such big diffence in elevation, if any.

I guess it will just be down to map data then - don't know whose is likely to be more accurate
