Garmin connect Active Calories issue

Active Calories seems to add both running activity (from FR620) and Vivofit2 activity.
The total calories summery seems way too big as it used to discard the Vivofit2 calories while performing an activity with FR620.

I seem to be having the same problem with my forerunner 92xt. Since the weekend it hasn't been subtracting the activity calorie count, adding something like another 1000+.

All this happened the same time as the sleep recorder started acting up.
  • Same problem here

I seem to be having the same problem with my forerunner 92xt. Since the weekend it hasn't been subtracting the activity calorie count, adding something like another 1000+.

All this happened the same time as the sleep recorder started acting up.

I've noticed exactly the same problem with my 920XT over the last week or so. Suddenly I'm getting hundreds or thousands of extra activity calories. It seems that if, for example, I go for a run, I get credit for both the calories burned during the running activity (via HRM) and the calories calculated by the thousands of steps taken during the run.

Previously Garmin seemed to eliminate this double counting elegantly. I don't recall a recent update to the 920XT so my guess would be that the error is happening within Garmin Connect, not on the device.
  • Surely we're not the only ones with this issue?

I've seen some responses to to other threads about this issue too. Is Garmin aware of the problem?
  • Seems to be affecting all devices

My wife is experiencing the same issue with her Vivofit.
  • Still an issue as of 10/18

I ran an 8k race this morning and, in addition to the 600 calories of running (HRM), I'm getting credit for 880 calories of walking due to all the steps. Please fix!
  • I think I pinpointed the start of the problem

Looking over my history, it looks like this problem started on or around Friday, October 9.
  • On my 510, too

My 510 has started to dramatically overestimate the calorie burn on my rides. For the past 18 months or so, it has consistently (and correctly, in my case), estimated calories as roughly 1 to 1 with work done (kJ). Suddently this past week, it starts to report calories burned as nearly 2 to 1 - i.e. a ride that did 1200 kJ of work gets reported as a 2300 calorie ride.

FWIW, my 510 is paired with a power meter, HR monitor, and a speed/cadense sensor. Could it be taking estimates on 2 or more of these and adding them as if teh ride was actually multiple events?
  • Possibly fixed now?

I see that my Sunday total calorie report now only shows 1,106 active calories vs. a total of 1,714 active calories (590 running, 1,124 walking) on the active calorie report. So it would seem that Garmin Connect is now no longer double counting. Can someone else verify the same?

I have a vivoactive, ran yesterday and it did not double count so no problems for me.
