Is Garmin Connect elevation correction more accurate than a GPS barometric altimeter?

Hi
I have a Garmin GPS device with a barometer - is it more accurate to use elevation data from this or should I disable it in Garmin Connect and use the "professional surveys" instead?
I went for a ride this morning and at the end the GPS said 512m of elevation - but Garmin Connect with correction enabled says it was just 334m. Seems quite a big difference.
Thanks in advance.
