Similar to much of the feedback I've seen, while it's great Garmin finally added gear to GC, it's not very user friendly. I still find it easier to use a basic free phone app to track my shoe mileage than using GC, which seems silly.
When I go to the activities dashboard screen, it shows me all sorts of great data in one spot, except Gear is not an option for a column, so I can't see which activities have gear assigned and which don't. Adding this would allow users to not only see which gear is assigned to which activity (great if you have different gear for each sport), but hopefully allow them to manually update multiple items at once ("I haven't added gear for my last 10 runs since they are all showing as blank for gear in the Activities screen, so I'll update all of them at once"). As there's no way to add gear via the mobile app, it's very cumbersome to have to go in and look at each activity (on the web version -- gear is completely absent from the mobile version) to determine if there is any gear assigned and if not, go in and add it.
I still use a separate mobile app to track shoe mileage because it's convenient (on my phone and not on the web version), only takes a few clicks, and it's easy to enter in multiple pairs of shoes. Hopefully one day I can have everything in one spot.
