Update 2.13 broke auto uploads from my 510

I was on the previous version of the IOS app and the 3.1 Firmware on my Edge 510 and was getting fairly consistent Bluetooth uploads. 95% of the time. I was on 3.1 as 3.5 was maybe 50% of the time. Anyway, when 2.13 was released, I had the crashing problem and reinstalled the app. Unfortunately, I couldn't upload at all after that. Even after the 2.13.1 release, I still couldn't upload. Tried installing 3.5 on my 510 it still won't work.

Contacted Garmin support and they told me to uninstall the app, reboot the phone and reinstall. Unfortunately this still doesn't work.

Does anyone have any ideas how to get auto uploads to work again. I asked Garmin to just release the old app.
  • There is one thing you should check in GCM on your iPhone:

    Devices : Edge 510 : Device Settings
    Is "Auto Upload" enabled?

After I re-installed GCM, I found that by default, my "Auto Upload" was disabled for my Edge 1000. So, I had to enable it.

Since the latest ios app upgrade a few days ago my Edge 510 always gets 'UPLOAD FAILED' every time I try to do a manual upload of a ride.

I have deleted app, unpaired then redownload app and pair devices again and same 'UPLOAD FAILED' error.

It will however do a sync via usb cable but one of the reasons for buying an Edge 510 was the bluetooth capabilities.

    Same problem with 810

I am having the same failure to upload on my 810. This new version is NOT an improvement.

Uploads always failing now - GCM 2.13.1 and Edge 510

Same problem. Just updated to Garmin Connect Mobile 2.13.1 and now it won't sync and upload my rides. GCM very quickly says syncing and then completed but my Edge 510 says upload failed. I'm on 3.5 on my Edge 510.

I've tried the unpair, uninstall, reboot, and reinstall, repair with no luck.
Of course, Garmin Express on my Mac works.

I boggles my mind how Garmin can't seem to get this to work. If their commercial aviation products worked as well as their consumer products, airplanes would be constantly falling out of the sky and crashing into each other. *shaking head*

    Sync Finally Worked

I finally got BT sync to work from my Edge 510 to GCM 2.13.1 on my iPhone 6.

    Here's what I did...

    1. I connected my Edge 510 to my Mac and made sure Garmin Express was not running.
    2. Backed-up my .fit files and removed all but the latest (which has not be sync'd yet).
    3. Disconnected the Edge 510 from the computer.
    4. Opened GCM on my iPhone, Edge 510 connected (sync'ing failed).
    5. Set GCM to Auto-Upload my Activities.
    6. Turned off my Edge 510 but left GCM open.
    7. Turned on my Edge 510, GCM connected and auto-sync'd my latest activity.

We'll see if this continues to work tomorrow.

Good luck. Let me know how you go.
At the moment my 510 is making me wish I'd never bought it. It can't be this hard to get it to bl00dy talk to my iPhone.

I've deleted all activities too and crossed my fingers. Maybe if I face North when a try it might make a difference...

    Still Working

Still working for me. After my ride, my Edge 510 is still on, I open the Garmin Connect app on my iPhone, it auto-syncs successfully.
This is certainly a step in the right direction for me because my past experience has been up and down with sync'ing.
In the past I've had to turn the Edge 510 on/off and re-open Garmin Connect, force the upload from the Edge 510 for the activity, before it would work, usually after several tries.

Hmmmm... mine seems to be okay too. I think the issue will be when there is more activities on the garmin unit.
    Stay tuned.
