Crashes on start up

Anyone else having this problem? I just installed the latest (8/5) version of GC for iOS on my iPhone and it crashes on startup. So basically it's useless...

Thanks.
  • Just updated and the same thing is happening for me. No bueno!

Was excited for the two devices at once. Was annoyed with having to disable bluetooth on my watch before powering my edge unit.

Sorry to hear the you are having issues after the update!

We are seeing reports of this and we are currently looking into this. We have found that uninstalling the Connect Mobile application and clearing the cache on the iOS device helps clear this up. To do this you will want to press and hold the Connect Mobile application until the application begins to shake and then pressing the 'x' in the corner of the app icon. After that you will want to press and hold the home button and the power button until the screen turns black and then the Apple logo appears. Once you see the Apple logo you can let go of both buttons and let the phone boot up.

From there you can go into the Apple App store and then download the Garmin Connect Mobile application. You will need to sign back in and then pair your devices back up again.

Please let us know if the cache clear and re-install helped!
  • Another weird thing:although GC isn't running on my phone, I am still getting alerts on my VivoActive....

I just updated to the latest version of GCM, 2.13.0, and do not have any issues with it. Syncing is definitely faster.

It has been this way for awhile. You can reboot the phone, without even opening GCM, you will still get notifications.

This is new to me.. At least with my Fenix 3... It worked this way (without having to have GCM running) on my Vivosmart. I really liked receiving notifications without running the app.

I had the app crashing issue, and your recommended procedure fixed it. It now works like a charm. Connected my fenix 3 and Edge 1000 to my iPhone 6 with no issues. And, syncing definitely is faster. Good update!

Although I'm not 100% sure, you don't need GC running on the phone to get notifications. I'm pretty sure the notification feature is a function of the Bluetooth Low Energy (BTLE) stack.
