Garmin Connect - DASHBOARD set up options

A quick comparison of the Garmin Connect Mobile App (IOS) among friends show that not everyone has the same list of available options on their dashboard.
A few friends have only ONE option: Activities. They also have THE MOST RECENT version of the app, having uninstalled and reinstalled this app.

I have the following options on my phone:
Active Calories
Activities
Leaderboard
MyFitnessPal
Sleep
Steps
Weight

There should be a universal list of available options to turn OFF or ON. There doesn't seem to be a specific phone requirement or version. (for the record, android phones also have this lack of uniform selectability)
  • Are you saying that the plus sign in the upper right corner doesn't allow them to add those options?

If so, could it be because of the devices they have?

There isn't a plus sign on the Mobile App - IOS (not sure about Android)
Steps to select dashboard display items:

    1. Open App (what displays is the list of Dashboard, News Feed, Notifications, Fitness, Social, Live Track, Devices, Help, Settings)
    2. Select (touch) Dashboard
    3. Select (touch) the pencil icon at the top (it's a blue pencil)
    4. Toggle the items you want ON or OFF (you can also rearrange these items by holding the three grey bars on the right side, and dragging into your desired order)

It is precisely in the fourth step where the disparity lies. Placing various phones side by side by side you will see that some have ONE option to toggle (usually "activities") while others have two or more different options. This is where there should be a universal list of available options to toggle.

The desktop html version does have the little plus sign (small blue circle) to create a new dashboard or upload your activities, but I'm only trying to address the mobile app issue I've observed.
  • I don't remember what the problem was then but something similar happened maybe 6 months ago. The people who had the issue, uninstalled the app and then reinstalled it and it solved the problem at that time.

    Uninstall/Reinstall already tried

I had a few people try that. It actually LOWERED the number of available options that could be toggled.

I have had this problem since April on my iphone5s. I have tried deleting and reinstalling GCM countless times and it made no difference. I have all the latest updates on GCM and on my phone and PC. I use a Garmin 800 which is registered on Garmin Connect which I use to upload activities. I have all info available on Garmin Connect however not on Garmin Connect Mobile. There are a number of tabs missing including Leaderboard for connections which I would like to access. I phoned Garmin on 5th August 2015 and a case has been raised. They are aware that others have same problem. Await their findings with anticipation.

Thank you. As the community makes this hidden difference come to light, perhaps GARMIN can address and fix this. Please do post with any update. It doesn't seem to be an issue related to a specific phone or specific watch. It's a glitch in the APP. Deleting/Reinstalling can sometimes remove the limited number of tabs that we do have, so I've stopped recommending that as well.

I finally got an explanation from Garmin Europe but its not good news for those with missing features. Their response is as follows :-

''We have investigated your issue and we can confirm that the availability of different sections and features in the app is determined by what device is actively paired and connected to the app. Once a compatible device is paired and connected, many features (e.g. Leaderboard) will be “unlocked” and available in the app.

Edge 800, which cannot directly connect to the app or the phone, doesn't unlock the subjected areas.

At this time, the only known work-around to enable these features (at least in a ‘read-only’ capacity), when you do not have a compatible device to connect, is to pair a friend or relative’s compatible device.''

It only took them 2 months to let me know!!

What's that for an answer from Garmin ???

That's a shame that you cannot have on the application all the features it can offer, and states this is linked to a device which is completely out of scope ... a dashboard is not linked to a device, it is only linked to contacts or groups ...

Snapshots missing or different on different phones

I am having this issue with the most current app version.
My wife and I both have iPhones and have preordered devices. (So nothing paired yet) when setting the accounts up on mine I selected "health" and she selected "fitness" as the main reason for using the app. We now have totally different lists other than "weight" and "my day".

Can I assume that once our devices are paired that it will "unlock" the rest of the snapshots for both phones?
