GPS tracking heart rate monitor and iPhone compatability

Hi there,

I have a long bike ride tomorrow and unfortunately the battery life on my forerunner 405 won't last the day.

I want to track the ride and capture my heart rate, gps and cadence using my iPhone 6.

Please let me know if this is possible and what will be the easiest way? All my devices are Garmin.

Cheers
  • There are a lot of free apps that will track on the iPhone (Strava and RunKeeper are two). Your problems are 1) your heart rate and cadence sensors, since you say they're Garmin, won't work with the iPhone since Apple doesn't include an ANT+ receiver, and 2) continuous GPS tracking is likely to kill off the battery in your iPhone as fast as the battery in your 405. What I would do is to quickly find out if the 405 will function when plugged into a power source, and if so, buy one of those cheap USB batteries to carry along with the cable.
