iOS sync fail server error

Hi, had my Vivofit for a week and had no problems, but just tried to sync using app on iPhone and it will not sync - I'm getting a sync fail, sever error message. Is there anything I can do about this?!?!? Tried switching phone off and on again, but no joy!

Anyone else having this problem?????
  • Started having issues on Android this morning after about a month of working flawlessly, my guess is that the servers are acting up/overloaded.

Hi. I have the same problem with my Edge 810. I get sync error almost every time I try to sync.
  • It's much better for me today.

OK I have been looking at why all these problems are occuring.

It seems to me that the design of how the iOS app works was changed in mid-February 2015. Some REALLY STUPID person thought that everyone lives in a connected world which of course only about 1% of those in certain parts of the USA does.
So the design change was to make it so that when you sync the Vivofit with the iOS device it does the sync but at the same time it uploads the synced data to the Garmin server. If the connect to the Garmin server fails so does the availability of the synced data to the iOS device and it cannot or does not put the data into its local application for user use.

This has got to be a design made without any real thought about how the device is used. Most people dont care that they store the data at Garmin because when they are connected to a wireless network it happens but if you are out training and there is no wifi connection then the data collected is useless until you get to a wifi network and the data is synced back to Garmin server.

Suggestion/Enhancement Requst - user option preference.
Allow data to be available to local application if there is no internet connection.
Display all current data (last 7 days) at least in application with no internet connection.

Guys you can do better and really should be thinking about this before rolling out new software which has been a really bad user experience in the last 10 days of February.

This issue is seriously booting me know, back to having to use a data cable, the whole reason I bought AA 510 garmin was for auto wireless uploads, needs sorted now !
  • Whenever you get a server sync error, check http://garminconnect.com/status to see if there are known issues.

Just got one a few minutes ago, status is green. This seems to be more frequent lately.

I'm getting it constantly with my edge 810 also. Can't transfer courses etc via Bluetooth or via express with data cable

    Any ideas?
  • Glad I'm not the only one. Edge 810 and IOS for me. Driving me nuts that it won't sync and I have to connect the 810 to my computer every time to complete the upload. Updates should be tested before they are made available.
