Activities uploaded through Connect app post with date/time 11 hours in the future

I'm wondering who else is having this problem.

As of early December activities uploaded from my FR220 and vivosmart to Garmin Connect online through the Connect iPhone app show a time that is 11 hours ahead of when the activity was actually performed (this may result in the activity being listed on the next day, depending on if i ran in the morning or evening). I have to go to the activity online in Garmin Connect and manually fix the date/time of the run, which is very frustrating.

This does not happen when i upload directly through my computer using Garmin Express.

Note that when Connect auto-syncs to Strava, the activity in Strava DOES SHOW THE CORRECT DATE/TIME. Also, the correct date/time is shown for the activity on the FR220. Only the iPhone and web version of Garmin Connect have a problem.

My FR220 and vivosmart firmware, iPhone iOS, and iPhone Connect app are all up-to-date. Happens on both an iPhone 5 and 6.
Anyone else experience this and have found a solution?
  • My activities upload fine however once I edit the activity (usually to rename or change type) the time gets set back 8 hrs. I've seen a few threads where others experience this too but no fix yet.

I have exactly the something happening with my edge 510. Once the ride has been saved and uploaded onto my iPhone, if I edit the ride in any way on the Garmin Connect app, name for instance and then save it, I will then find that if I open Garmin Connect on my PC and go to the activities list, the start time of the ride has had 11 hrs added to it. So if I did the ride at 07:40 + 11:00 = 18:40. The saved ride on the edge 510 still shows that I started the ride at 07:40, the local time on the edge 510 is also correct.

However, if I sync the Edge 510 with Garmin Connect on my PC using the USB cable and then edit the ride on the PC, the start time does not change, it is correct.

From the above I believe that this has something to do with the Garmin connect app on the iPhone that is causing the problem.

I have been in contact with Garmin support about this and they are happy that I have found away around the problem but have not offered any idea as to when or if they know about a fix.

Hope that this is of some help.

Since early December i've contacted them through email twice describing the problem. Despite giving the "We'll respond in 3 business days" there's been nothing. That's very disappointing and awful customer service.

In the past i've found them to be fairly good. Thing seem to be falling apart now, and at the worst time given the increasing competition in he market.

Same experience here, the Garmin connect app on the iPhone is causing the problem. My time zone is +8 and when I edit (rename and change type) an activity using the iPhone app, the activity becomes 8 hours ahead of when the activity was actually performed and the Total Time, Moving Time and Elapsed Time all becomes the same.

The time is correct when I upload directly through my computer using Garmin Express, or Upload in Garmin Connect Web or directly using the wifi on the 620. The error happens after editing using the iPhone app. I need to login the web using the PC just to edit(rename and change type) an activity.
