Software update for Vivosmart on iphone

After purchasing the Vivosmart several days ago, I now have a software notification for the mobile connect app for version 2.9, & have been unable to download the update on my iphone5. The manual says that software updates will automatically download when the device syncs with my account, but this has not prompted the update. How can I download the software update?

    Seems this is a half baked "feature" that isn't ready for primetime. I have the same problem with mine and also can't even connect my Vivosmart to two different PCs to do the update via USB..
    Getting REALLY sick of the bugs in the crappy software...and support not bothering to reply.

    When your vivosmart syncs with the iOS Garmin Connect app the software update is automatically downloaded to the band. After recharging the band the update is applied automatically. Alternately you can use the Garmin Express application on the computer and download it to the band as well.

    Thanks for the info. I had to FULLY recharge my Vivosmart for the software update to install. The app version is still 2.8 though.

    As of yesterday, my says is synced but the info on my vivosmart is different than on my phone. It isn't updating my steps or sleep on my phone.
