Calorie count when using heart rate monitor

I've been having problems with my new vivosmart's calorie count. When I wear the heart rate monitor, my active calories are off the charts. Today, I've only walked 3200 steps but it shows that I've burned 9800 calories. The whole point of wearing the monitor is for better accuracy but clearly something is wrong. Is there a fix?

Me too even without using my hrm I have 715 steps 1500feet and over 24000calories. This is a new problem in last couple of days and I've been using my vivosmart since October.

I thought a garmin person reads and responds to these?

A heart rate monitor isn't meant to be worn all day, it is meant to be worn during exercise., that may be one reason. Also, heart rate isn't associated with steps.

Thanks for stating the obvious, but that's not the point. The point is, wearing the heart rate monitor causes a problem with the active calorie count. It is a problem that needs to be fixed but Garmin isn't responding. It's a worthless accessory, as is the calorie feature - which is the reason I chose Garmin over other brands. I just have a really expensive pedometer that doesn't do anything else.

No, with very few exceptions on the software forums, they don't.
