GCM 2.8 "double dips" time zone information

I live in the Pacific Time Zone. Since the latest GCM update, my workouts from my 920XT are posted to Garmin Connect 8 hours too early. That is a 5:30 AM Tuesday run is recorded as a 9:30 PM Monday run. I did not have this problem on the prior version of GCM.

    Hello David,

    Very strange indeed.

If the new software is doubling all the time zone offsets then you might try setting your 920 to the -4 time zone and see if you can trick it into recording your time correctly until the software gets fixed??

I have a similar problem! I noticed that the record in Fenix 2 synced with GC Mobile when viewed in Desktop GC were all 8 hours ahead. But if I sync the record using the USB cable, the time is accurate!

However, with the "8 hours ahead records" which auto-synced to Runkeeper, they appeared correct with no time shifted. It is really weird!

    What's the problem?

BTW, I don't see problem with my Vivosmart's data which synced with the GC Mobile
  • I'm still in conversation with Garmin about this. But I believe they had an issue with their server(s) Dec 1-3. Because my workouts on Nov 30 and Dec 4 worked fine, even synced through GCM. (GCM was actually updated on Dec 2, so that doesn't explain the error on the workout from Dec 1.) All of my workouts Nov 30-Dec 4, did auto-sync to Strava and Training Peaks with the correct time stamps. I can only guess that they may have had different "equipment" on-line at the time that had some sort of time sync bug, or outdated user time zones. My step and sleep data from my 920XT was all time stamped correctly during this time. It was also synced using GCM.

At this point it is all conjecture. But I doubt now that it is actually GCM 2.8.

I'm having an issue today in GCM. Just went for a ride with edge 510. It uploaded to gc thru the app. Now when I go into the activities section I see that the ride I just did is listed as doing it tomorrow... How can the app know what ride I do a day in advance? Lol
    How do I correct?
My Timezone is central australia +8.5

I've checked all my dates and times on all my devices and they are all correct so I believe this must be a server issue.

I still have this problem today! I have already sent my Fenix2 to automatic time zone, still see the time moved 8 hours ahead on connect.gamin.com after syncing via GCM.
I need to manually using the USB cable to upload the activity in order to see the right time. Really annoying!
    Any solution?

Also, wanted to clarify that Vivosmart activities sync via GCM also has the same time shifted problem.
  • I have the same problem with 920xt. Uploads with the correct time, but gets adjusted if I edit in the GCM app. Annoying.

I do believe it is the problem with the current version Mobile Connect!
