iOS app: Can't connect Vivosmart and FR220 at the same time

The vivosmart always dominates the Garmin iOS app and connects first. The FR220 no longer connects at all. It had no problem before I got the Vivosmart, and if I remove the Vivosmart it works perfectly again. I have everything at the latest version. iPhone 5.

Makes auto upload of runs impossible, and most importantly LiveTrack as well.

Does anyone lease have this issue? Is this a bug or a feature? Help!
  • I have the same issue with my 920xt and my Edge 510. I have to disable Bluetooth on my 920xt to get the app to connect to the 510, even though both are listed as "connected" in iOS' list of bluetooth connect devices.

    Garmin, any updates?

The response I had from level 1 support was that the Bluetooth (510,810) and the Bluetooth LE (920 Vivosmart etc) don't play nicely together. I want to record my rides on the 810 and do everything else on the 920 so the workaround I have used and seems have become an easy habit is:

Starting point: 920XT connected to the App
Step 1: Turn the 920XT off as I am walking to the garage
Step 2: Turn the 810/510 on and it connects to the App automatically if the 920XT is not connected (Turned off)
Step 3: Turn the 920XT back on immediately the 810/510 has connected to the app. (it does not reconnect to the app as the 810 is already connected)
Step 3: Record the ride on the 810 and Save-Upload the ride at the end
Step 4: Turn the 810 off and then close & restart the app on the phone. The 920XT then reconnects to the App automatically and syncs

Looks a bit complicated on paper but works pretty easily in practice and will do until a fix is found.

That's essentially what I'm doing now, though I'm just turning the 920xt's bluetooth off instead of the whole unit, it's just a slight inconvenience and you'd think Garmin would figure out a fix, rather than a workaround. At the very least, if Connect had the ability to manually disconnect the device its connected to and manually connect another device.
