iOS app: Can't connect Vivosmart and FR220 at the same time

The vivosmart always dominates the Garmin iOS app and connects first. The FR220 no longer connects at all. It had no problem before I got the Vivosmart, and if I remove the Vivosmart it works perfectly again. I have everything at the latest version. iPhone 5.

Makes auto upload of runs impossible, and most importantly LiveTrack as well.

Does anyone lease have this issue? Is this a bug or a feature? Help!
  • Similar problems here. 920XT dominates connection and edge 810 will not connect or upload workouts. Any way we can make one device the primary device? Since I wear the 920XT all day and the 810 is only on when riding, I would like my edge 810 to be the primary device so when I switch it on it will take the connection from the 920XT until it is turned off.

I have a similar issue with the Garmin Connect, Edge 510 and a Vivosmart. I have to shut down the GC app, power on the 510 for the 510 and the GC app to see each other and sync. When the 510 comes on and connects, the Vivosmart is dropped. I have to power off the 510, before the Vivosmart connects to the GC app again.

I suspect there is someone out there that can tell us whether this is a limitation of the Bluetooth technology or of the current version of the GC app. My guess is that there can only be one BT connection with GC at a time. But... I am often wrong! LOL
  • I also have a VS and a 220. Found out last night that when I turn off bluetooth on my VS, the 220 connects automatically.

Yeah that works for me now as well. Perhaps they've done this to avoid issues with live track or conflicting activities?
  • I just experienced this activity with my Edge 510 and Vivosmart. Garmin please fix. The iPhone can handle multiple Bluetooth connections. It would be nice not to have to worry about turning BT off on one device just to sync another.

ALLENPG: BTLE doesn't work the same as BT for audio and having a single APP connect to multiple devices is not the same either.
  • Using 920 and vivosmart

So it looks like all of with Christmas presents are having the same problem. First question is can ios connect to two devices at the same time? If not, then can't there be an easy way to switch between the two in the mobile app.
Similarly had anyone been able to connect their 920 using wifi? I've tried a bunch of things but can't get it to connect.

    Thanks!

iOS can connect to several BTLE devices at the same time - I've had my fenix, Polar H7 and my VS connected to my phone, but only the VS shows up as connected in the app.

I have the same problem with a vivosmart and a Edge 510. Both are connected when I look at the phones BT but only one shows up in the app (normally the vivosmart). So the way I got round it when riding and wanting to sinc the 510 was to turn off the BT on the vivosmart and then when done with the 510 turn the vivosmarts BT back on. That's the only way to get round the problem until Garmin sort the app out.
  • I have the same issue with my 920xt and my Edge 510. I have to disable Bluetooth on my 920xt to get the app to connect to the 510, even though both are listed as "connected" in iOS' list of bluetooth connect devices.

    Garmin, any updates?
