Sync Issues with Forerunner 620 and iOS

Hello all.

I just purchased my Forerunner 620 over lunch break today, but cannot get the device to sync over Bluetooth. Here are the things I've tried:

ensured Bluetooth is enabled on iPhone 5s
opened up Garmin Connect mobile app on phone, selected yes to connect a device
selected Forerunner 620 from menu and pressed Start to begin sync process
browsed to Wireless settings option on Forerunner 620
select Bluetooth and then Pair Mobile Device
given PIN number

at this point, the pairing fails. Neither device recognizes each other within the three feet between them.

I see many posts here about the 510/810 syncing (including sticky thread), but no one seems to mention the Forerunner 620. Can anyone provide assistance?

    Bluetooth pairing

Same problem here. I believe it's to do with iOS 8.

Bluetooth worked fine until I updated. So perhaps we need to wait for an update from Garmin on the AppStore or a new firmware.

I am also having trouble sending routes to my 620 from my PC, and the only advice from Garmin that I haven't already tried is to reset the watch. Going to attempt that later today, and I'm hoping that might also solw the Bluetooth connection.
  • Make sure you have ios 8.02 it had bt fixes
  • Same problem here!

I used to connect without any issues until the update. I thought it had to do with the software update on the Garmin 620 which I did install now. The problem persists so we need a solution from Garmin ASAP!!!

Hi, having the same issue here. As soon as I updated iphone 5 to ios 8, I lost the ability to sync with bluetooth. My phone's bluetooth is working fine with my car, and my watch is still working fine connecting with over wifi with our home internet, but no luck syncing direct from the watch to the phone. I've since updated to ios 8.0.2 and to the current 2.7 of Garmin Connect. Still no joy though.

I'm at least happy to see that other people are having the same software issue, as I was starting to think maybe it was a bluetooth/hardware issue with my watch.
  • For what it's worth I'm having the same IOS 8.02 Bluetooth issues with my car Bluetooth speaker, could not make phone calls so I deleted the paired iPhone from the car AND from the iPhone, and repaired the whole thing. maybe you should try that and see if that helps. if you've Already done that sorry for the post.

Has anyone found a solution to this as I am having the same issues since the last iOS upgrade on my iPhone 5s
  • 1f it worked before you updated to ios8 try setting up the device with GC again as if you'd just bought it. I found the same issue with my 220 after each 8.x update but setting it up afresh resoved the issue each time.

I wonder if it's because it's a non-standard pairing process (within GC rather than in the ios settings) and the settings therefore aren't retained properly as they would be for your car radio.
