Unable to sink due to error

I have just started using a 610 and did my longest run on Saturday - but it won't sync- tried at varying times of day and it won't work. When I scroll through the device I can see distances and time but when you go further it almost switches off - and still coming to grips with this having had a 205 for 4 years - I am still not sure whether it's me or a fault! I ran a short 5k today and that seems to have synced ok! I would really have liked to have had the details on connect due to the fact we got lost on a trail route - I was hoping to see where we went wrong!
