An update to Garmin Connect Mobile (v2.2, released on 4/29/2014) should fix an issue that caused some users to be unable to share LiveTrack sessions through Facebook. Please apply this update as soon as possible to see if it has corrected this issue. If you continue to experience this issue, please follow these steps:

  • Uninstall the Application (Press and Hold the GCM App until it begins to wiggle, then tap the “X” to uninstall.)
  • Clear the Cache on the phone (Press and Hold both the Power and Home buttons on the iOS device until the screen goes black and an Apple logo appears. Release and allow the phone to reboot.)
  • Reinstall the Application (Visit the App Store and Reinstall the Garmin Connect Mobile application.)
  • Sign into your Garmin Connect account and attempt LiveTrack sharing on Facebook again.

It is important to notate that LiveTrack will default to the Facebook account associated with the iOS settings (Settings > Facebook), which may be different than the account signed in through the Facebook app, itself. This means that the LiveTrack share may be posting onto a different Facebook account than intended, so please be sure to check these settings as well.

I have version 2.4 of Connect on iOS and it still doesn't work for me. Has anyone successfully used this method to correct the issue?

I've just tried this three times and still can't get it to work.
  • not fixed. Additionally if you invite someone by mail, instead of adding his mail, opens a new mail message.
Also th Twitter button is not working. The program hangs.
Live tracking does not work. Please fix it.

This is the key item here. I just went through all the issues and threads I could find on google and this was the fix. I've had facebook on my iphone for many years, but apparently, it wasn't attached to the "base" facebook account within settings. When I went into Settings > Facebook, my email and password for FB were not in there, I added it, then restarted the Garmin Connect app and now Livetrack does what it should, it asks for permission to use it, just like you see in the tutorials.
