Hi, I have just purchased a Forerunner 220 watch and I own already an iPhone 4s with the latest iOS 7.1.
I cannot manage to connect via Bluetooth.
1. I installed the app GarminConnect from the App store.
2. I switched on Bluetooth connect on my iPhone.
3. I turned on Bluetooth on my Forerunner 220 and get "Ready to pair - Passkey 1234"
4. Start the app GarminConnect, click on Device - > Add new decide and select Forerunner 220. I get:
"Your Garmin device uses Bluetooth Smart technology to sync data to mobile devices. Unfortunately, your phone is not compatible."
What the...? I just spent €250 on an expensive item which is supposed to work with my phone, allowing up/download of workouts, activities, etc... and I can not seem to get the basic Bluetooth working. I tried with two other iPhone 4s at home and no luck.
I have read tons of other posts claiming different issues (dropped connectivity, frequent app reload,...) but never seen this error message that led me think that the app is FAULTY, picking an incorrect model of the phone. :( and prevent to go further.
Finally I also try to see if by turning on the Bluetooth in my iPhone and find discoverable devices, it would have picked up the Forerunner (that is seeing it as discoverable at least). But not luck: no iPhone in my house seems to connect to it.
This is pretty poor form - I am close to return it to the shop unless it will be working soon. What disappointment. This is my 5 Garmin devices I purchased.
