Tactix (4.14) and iPhone 5s (iOS 7.1) pairing issue

Hi,

I have had my Tactix paired successfully in the past but yesterday it stopped fully pairing.

I still get my email/txt alerts but the Garmin Connect app says "Pairing failed".

To troubleshoot I did the following:

1. In the Garmin Connect app I "forgot the device"
2. In the iOS bluetooth menu I "forgot the device"
2. On the Tactix I go to "settings > bluetooth > pair new"
3. In the Garmin Connect app I "Pair new"
4. Enter Bluetooth code
5. Garmin Connect app does the following:
a. "Syncing with fenix/tactix/D2"
b. "Pairing Failed - Unable to pair your garmin device. Device connection error"

I have also done the above and also removed and reinstalled the Garmin Connect App.

One potentially odd thing I observed was that even after 'forgetting' the device in the Garmin App - it is listed (with the correct ID) as 'disconnected' The "i" menu does not allow me to select "forget device" anymore - only add device.

The only other note to add - it seems to stop working correctly when I had a corrupt .fit file (since fixed and removed).

Any thoughts or help?

Cheers

I'm having the exact issue with my Fenix 2 and iPhone 5. I've emailed Garmin and posted the issue on several forums.. No luck or responses!

Yes I am surprised by the silence as well. I did have some progress I will share (though no solution). I was able to pair the device and get through the syncing process but there was a catch :-) Here is what I did.

    1. In the iOS Bluetooth menu "Forget" the Tactix
    2. Uninstall the Garmin Connect app on my iPhone
    3. Turn of the iPhone
    4. Turn off Bluetooth on the Tactix
    5. Remove all FIT activities, routes, tracks and most waypoints (this was done to limit the amount of data being transferred during sync).
    6. Turn off the Tactix
    7. Turn on the Tactix
    8. Turn on the iPhone
    9. Download and install Garmin Connect app
    10. Enable bluetooth on the iPhone
    11. Launch the Garmin Connect App and follow standard login, pairing and sync

This has been repeatable success. However it only last for the initial sync and then the same behaviour as before resumes

    YOU ARE THE BEST!!!

Once I read your steps to fix it, it got me thinking.. I wonder if I have a corrupt FIT file.. I deleted all my workouts, and it connected to Garmin mobile like a charm! Thanks so much for putting that info in there!

    Good luck with your pairing!
