I just got a new vivofit. When I set it up, everything looked good and showed little/no activity (i.e., steps, miles, time), except the calories were way off. I had less than 100 steps and .02 miles immediately after the initial set up, and it was claiming I burned 1300+ calories. Why would this be/has anyone else experienced this?
This is most likely be your BMR calories. Assuming a Base Metabolic Rate of around 1700/day then you would have 1300 burned at around 6:30pm, even with no activity apart from existing and breathing. Your BMR will vary - 1700 is for an average height and weight, 30 year old, male.
Were you setting up your vivofit for the first time in the early evening? If so that'll be it.
