Garmin Connect 2.0 and Edge 510/810 syncro issues

Hi, all:

I managed to solve the Live Track issue, but now I am having repeated problems with synching data. The phone IS connected to the 810, and live track DOES work, but at the end of the ride, the data won't automatically upload from the Garmin to the phone. The Garmin says upload complete. However, the Garmin connect mobile app shows a red bar at the bottom that says sync error. Then I have to go to the file icon and upload my ride data manually. With the old version, I simply hit the save button at the end of the ride, and everything worked fine.

I have the newest firmware installed on my 810 and the newest version of Garmin connect mobile (2.0).

Anyone having similar issues or know of a fix. They've upgraded the software and downgraded the ease of use here!

Thanks,

Peter
  • Try this solution from GENETTICO, worked for me just then

Ok.... i just found a fix.

    Uninstall App. install Again.
Start up app first time with Garmin Device Turned off...
Start up device, and reconnect bluetooth...

    fixed. Enjoy..

I tried that but it started syncing to device the blue bar popped up at bottom of screen, so I thought it was fixed it took longer but still then changed to a red bar saying sync failure failed to connect to device
  • I have same problem. Not sync at all not automatic or manual. Always same problem, red popup saying "sync not working". The solution proposed not Working to me.
    Best regards.
  • I have the same issue... cannot sync my 810 with IOS anymore. Very frustrating.
  • Garmin connect 2.0 fails to sync with Garmin Edge 810

Just installed the new iPhone app and updated my Edge 810 to the latest firmware 2.9
Once the connection is established, the app tries to sync with the Edge (a blue line at the bottom of the iPhone screen appears with the message syncing with Edge 810.) After 30 seconds or so, the line turns red with the message that the sync failed. This syncing is obviously something new as the old app never displayed a message to say this. The devices tab of the app says the Edge is connected and I am able to download ride data from the Edge to the app, though I haven't managed to upload a course from the app to the Edge (that fails too; sync failure)

So, are we talking about another bug here or am I doing something wrong?
    .
  • Exactly the same issue here...
  • Same here, haven't figured out you why after trying again and again it suddenly worked and then i did not sync again.

Same issue here. I thought maybe it was me. I deleted off the phone and re-installed and still same issue.

I figured out the issue. ERASE all the rides off your Garmin 810. Make sure you saved them online first, of course. Then reboot the phone and the Garmin, and you will get a GREEN bar that shows the Garmin is syncing with the phone. Then everything works as normal. I rode this morning and all data uploaded automatically and the app is much faster than the old one. I used to have to wait for my power data to upload last for some silly reason. Works great now. Too bad Garmin's people are complete fools and don't even know how to address issues with their products. Some user in the UK came up with this fix, and I just happened to find his post on this forum.

I had been hit by this same issue but following the tip to delete all old rides it is now sorted. Thanks for sharing this.
