Known Issue: "Activity Type" Causing Data Issues (GCM v2.0)

I have some activities categorised as 'Trail Running' or 'Track Running'. On these activities, despite wearing my HRM-run, the app doesn't show Cadence/Vertical Oscillation/GCT data. In Garmin connect it shows VO and GCT but Cadence is blank (which I guess is a related bug). Sound like the app needs to be set up to recognise the running subcategories as part of the running category!

Thank you for bringing this to our attention. We've noticed this bug as well and, as you said, were able to determine that the issue relates to how the application interprets the "Activity Type" setting for the activity within Connect.Garmin.Com. An optional and temporary work-around that allows you to view the correct data on the Garmin Connect Mobile app is to change the "Activity Type" setting within an activity to a main category (i.e. Running, Cycling, Hiking, Swimming, etc.) instead of a subcategory (i.e. Street Running, Lap Swimming, etc.).

We are currently working on correcting this issue with a future update release. I apologize for any inconvenience.
  • HI Garmin - this appears to still be an issue. If I select activity type 'Paddling' on my watch then within the app i see no chart data. If I change activities to running then I see chart data.

This really is quite important to be solved as watches like my new 920 are built around selecting a specific activity type.
  • this seems to still be an issue and I also cannot create a profile for xcountry skiing that works. there are a lot of reports on this being an issue especially as this is a watch that should be very useful cor xcountry and other new profiles. This reply has already been filed a year ago, Is anyone actually working on a solution?

I got them to admit that there is a known issue in the app regards showing the chart data - but on top of that I also have issues that any custom activity types are not syncing. The only sugegst from garmin so far was for me (at my own expense!!! ) return the watch for a replacement. They said there is no known issue which is rubbish as if you look at the forums the answer is there. You ridiculously have to import the activity into Garmin Training Centre software - export it as tcx & then import it manually into Garmin Connect then the workout is visible.

I can't believe they will not admit there is an issue here - replacing the watch would be pointless & really annoying they expect me to cover the costs & wait 2 weeks for a new one despite having jsut spent £400 on a brand new watch 6 weeks ago
