Is Connect 2.0 keeping my 620 from going to sleep?

Since updating to Connect 2.0 my watch no longer goes into auto sleep mode. I find that whenever the watch is remotely close to my iPhone, it connects to the phone & then stays on, effectively draining the battery. The only way to put it to sleep is to press the clock button, and even I have my suspicions if that is effectively putting it to sleep.

My watch used to be able to go nearly a week without a charge & that included going on 4-5 runs with it. Now, it barely lasts 2-3 days unless I consciously put it to sleep.

What is causing this? I am not actively engaging with the Garmin app, nor is the watch sending or receiving any data to/from the app. The watch used to go to sleep like clockwork after sitting idle. Now, it never does.

If your 620 is connected to your iPhone via Bluetooth, I believe your watch will NOT go to sleep. To remedy this situation, you can "force-quit" Garmin Connect when you no longer need to use it. You can do this by Double clicking on the home button and then flick the Garmin Connect app upwards. This would remove Garmin Connect from the background process and your 620 will disconnect. Alternatively, you could disable bluetooth on your phone after you no longer need to use 620, but that would also disable you from using other bluetooth devices you have connected to the iPhone, if you have any other bluetooth devices.
  • Thanks MIRIELGH. Looks like you are correct. I usually keep my iPhone background apps clean, but I guess I've been letting Connect run.
