Garmin Connect 2.0 significantly better after a few hurdles

I definitely wanted to give the Garmin crew a shout out on the release of a better iOS app than the version before. I will say that there were a few hurdles I had to jump through to get v2 stable (e.g. uninstall/install to get livetrack from stop crashing and instigating a bluetooth repairing through the FR220 settings to get it to reconnect to phone), but I did want to point out the things I have noticed that are a big improvement:

1) The UI is faster in v2. I can pull up my graphs almost instantly whereas in v1 for some reason it took about 30 seconds to load in the iOS app
2) The v2 app does not crash like in v1. In v1, I would constantly get the app crashing and then it would of course loose connection to the watch. I have not yet had this happen in v2.
3) My FR220 activity uploads almost instantly after a run with v2. In v1, there would always be cases where the activity information may not even make it to the phone and then when it would make it to the phone it would get stuck on uploading to Garmin's servers (killing the app and restarting seemed to help in v1). Now, it does it instantly.

While v2 didn't really include too much additional functionality (other than I guess steps, etc for the fitness band), I look forward to additional functionality for runners (e.g. equipment tracking, etc) through Garmin connect as the new release improves over releases.

Thanks!

Agree with Wagnertr. Thanks to Garmin for fixing the problems with the prior version. I know there are always lots more posts talking about problems on forums than posts saying thanks. But this really is a great update.
  • I fully agree with everything WAGNERTR said - great update. It is also very nice it read something positive rather than just venting.....

I concur! While I use the Edge 510, I see the same or like improvements. Thanks!

(Also, ditto on the equipment tracking!) :)
