They claim it fixes all the crashes, drops, slowness...
  • Just downloaded the new app and installed. However, it can't find my FR220. These are the things I have tried to resolve the issue:
    1) killed the app, turned on airplane mode (to stop all antennae), turned off airplane mode. My watch said connected but disconnected right away. Maybe because I clicked the "yes" key to connect a device? Strange.
    2) killed the app, turned on airplane mode, turned off airplane mode. This time I didn't open the new app right away. Nothing connected. Opened garmin connect and at the "do you have a garmin device to connect" screen, my phone and watch connected before I clicked "yes". On the bottom of the screen a menu popped up that read, "syncing with forerunner 220". I DID NOT click the "Yes" button on the "Do you have a garmin device to connect" screen.

There was a small thin line progress bar at the bottom that filled from left to right slowly. I left it progress. It was pretty slow.

After ~5 min minutes, my phone screen turned off and I was worried the sync got killed. Unlocked my phone and the sync was still going. Estimated time the sync will take looks to be about 20 minutes for my watch (probably variable on how many runs are on it). Is the new app caching all the watch data? Interesting. Maybe this is to resolve the repopulation of activities by syncing across the net every time the old app crashed?

I was about to go on a run. This teaches me to update production equipment right before production :).

When sync bar got to ~50%, it looks like it now restarted from the beginning. wtf? It seems to be progressing faster this time though.

Sync got to 50% for the second time and then the blue bar went green and indicated complete.

Now I am left with the "Yes" button only. I clicked it. IT DISCONNECTED ME!!! I hit search for device and now it can't find my watch.

I'll troubleshoot more and let you guys know if I find anything out.

    3) Killed the app again. Started up app. Phone connected and looked like it synced immediately. Good. I am at the "do you have a garmin device to connect". This time under the "Yes", I notice a "No, go to app". I clicked, "No, go to app". The phone stays connected and everything is good.

I should be good to go now. Will keep everyone posted if not.

Selected livetrack in the app and the app immediately crashed and disconnected from my watch. Ugh.

  • Same story as Mario. Garmin Connect doesn't find my Tactix (fw 4.05 beta). Basecamp Mobile works fine. Phone is iPhone 4s

We are currently looking into this. Good news is it doesn't appear to be app side. Watch HERE for an updated beta SW release for your Tactix.

Sorry for your troubles. An uninstall/reinstall of the application will resolve your crashing issue.
  • Great. If i try to Start a livetrack, the app crashes all the Time....

Yep, getting the exact same problem.
  • Uninstalled and re-installed the app and now the entire "Home" screen is blank in the app.

    WTF.

Great, I uninstalled/reinstalled to hopefully get the livetrack from immediately crashing and disconnecting from the watch and instead now after reinstall the app doesn't recognize my phone at all. Good news is that going into livetrack doesn't immediately crash the app now. Unfortunately though, the bluetooth connection now isn't available.

I found out that I then had to go to the FR220 bluetooth settings and repair the bluetooth connection from there. Everything seems to be working now.

Is there a way to uninstall and go back to the previous version? This new version is total crap. I paid A LOT of money for an FR 620 and I'm losing some data - why do I now have to multiply strides per minute by 2 to get the actual rate?

Give us an app that has more, not less.

(And now I can't get my phone to sync with the watch via Bluetooth)

As per a previous post above, I cannot connect my Fenix running firmware 4.01 to Garmin Connect Mobile app V2.0.

Basecamp V3.0 connect to the Fenix perfectly, but the Connect app on both my iPhone 5S and iPad 3 cannot connect to the watch.

I have restarted the phone, restarted the watch, reinstalled the app and still have the same problem. I have been waiting for months to be able to wirelessly upload to Connect, and from there to Strava, and when the heralded update arrives with the promised new features, I still can't upload.

    iPhone 5S iOs 7.04
    Fenix 4.01
    Connect v2.0

Edit: Fenix software Beta V4.11 has been released for update. I will update the watch and see if that resolves the issue.

I have updated the firmware on the Fenix to V4.11 Beta, and this seems to have resolved the issue.

I restarted the phone and the watch after the update, switched Bluetooth on the phone on, started Connect, went into Devices, added the Fenix and it paired and synced perfectly. The activity that I paired was uploaded to the Garmin Connect website within a couple of minutes.

Now I will wait and see if that activity gets uploaded to Strava, but that is not Garmin's problem.

To the developers, thanks for the update, thanks for listening and thanks for resolving the Fenix issue so quickly. Well done.

Edit: I am having issues with Livetrack (Connect app loses connection to watch shortly after initiating Livetrack and starting tracking), but I will try and resolve before posting again.

Just did the f/w 4.11b on my Tactix and this indeed fixed the connect problem. i'm now able to connect to the new app with no problem.
  • Credit where it's due. I am very happy with the new app so far. No crashes, super quick to sync with GC, also syncs unuploaded rides from the device automatically very quickly. Good job Garmin!
