LowMemory = CRASH

Can we please get some traction on getting the excessive memory use or memory leak fixed. This has been going on thru several updates already.

Per the crashlog on my iPhone which is the same everytime..

  • Yep, mine crashes almost every time and re-loads all activities. I have lots of activities and app trying to maintain sync of all these is not working, to be honest this should probably be configurable any way (do I really need 12 months of activities on the phone?)

    Interestingly a friend with only half a dozen activities on Garmin Connect does not see the issue, so Garmin need to test with lots of activities also.

    Very poor that these problems have been occurring since June and not fixed, but just seen that Garmin Connect is due for a big revamp so maybe they are busy working on a brand new App that will be more reliable?
  • Yes. Mine crashes just about every day. Open app, wait several minutes for it to crash, relaunch app, then wait again for it to download activities. This makes the app totally useless. With the last several updates, I've hoped this would be patched since it's very obvious AND surely Garmin's QA guys and/or developers have to have seen this first hand since I'm pretty sure Garmin eats their own dog food.

    My fingers are crossed that the next update or app revamp will fix ConnectMobile.
  • Add me to the list of users with this problem. Crash, reload to find no activities and start downloading (takes a while). This started happing sometime last year (ages ago) after an "update" and no update since has fixed it for me.

    This issue has been addressed and will be corrected in the next update, which should be released sometime in February.
  • Nice, very nice! We all look forward to the update. And thanks for chiming in!

    Excellent, I'll take it this will also fix the constant, time consuming resynchronising of activities?

    It's great to see Garmin chiming in on this long standing issue. Can we get a rep in the Edge 810 forum?
  • The very clunky workaround for now until the new app is released is as follows:

    (1) Start the app and wait for it to try and sync, the app will crash
    (2) Start the app again all activities will be wiped and it will load them all up again
    (3) You can now use the app as normal for this day and upload and livetrack etc works for me

    On the next day you want to use it ... back to step (1)

    Steve your process is exactly what I do. The only time things can fall apart is when running a course. I get random shutdowns and Bluetooth disconnects. Hopefully these issues are sorted out with new firmware soon.
