Active calories

Why is the fenix 7 sincronization with connect overwritting with an estimated value the more acurated active calories achived with the edge 840 after the activity? I think is something happens since the last app update. Every time I sincro the edge, the value becomes the activity resgistred but when the fenix 7 sincronizes, this value is overwrited again for the watch estimation. I don't wear the watch during activity.

  • Unfortunately, Calories from the Primary Wearable Device are always prioritary. There are (minimally) two workarounds available:

    • When riding, shut down Fenix. Removing it from the wrist, or disabling the wrist HR sensor should work too.
    • Connect the chest strap (if used), and the bicycle sensors to your Fenix, start the activity on it, and use Edge just as the "Extended Display" of Fenix.

I suggest rather using the second option, in order to get the most accurate and consistent results.

  • As I said, when I record an activity with the Garmin Edge, i'm not wearing the Watch Fenix 7. When edge sincronizes with the app, the calories value is correct on Connet but when I shut down the Edge (when the cycling activity finished) and wear again the Fenix 7, the watch sincronizes and the previously Edge active calories value is overwritted for a estimeted value calculated for the watch. For me have no sense that a active calories calculated value for the Edge during an activity using a HR strap and bike power sensor is overwrited for a watch thas has not been used/weared during this activity estimation value. The watch has the same info than the edge because it sincronises with conec and I can see the activity on his calendar, but it seams that uses another algorism to calculate the active calories showing and overwriting less active calories than the edge calculated previously. why two diferent algorism to calcolae the active calories in base the same info? And the problem is the same if I fix the Edge as a main training device.

  • As I wrote, removing the watch from the wrist should be sufficient and AFAIK it works at least with some other models, but when it does not help, in your case, as you tell, try the other options - either power it off, or better, use it for recording the activity.

Also verify whether you have the latest firmware on both devices. If you do, you can try reporting the issue directly to the Support, and hope they change it.
