Steps at a glance differs from Steps

On my "Home" screen (IOS), I can see my current "Steps at a glance." Since I am not done walking for the day, those steps are 3879.

If I select "Steps," the screen underneath At a Glance, I only see 3780. 

I can sync all I want. The steps do not update. 

Why is there a difference? What causes this difference?

It's not always different, which is why this is so irritating. 

My Steps at a glance can be as much as 6000 steps more than "Steps" below At a glance. 

Is there a fix for this?

    Normally, they do. At least it works for me. The glance shows steps broadcasted live in real-time from the watch (you can see them there incrementing one by one), without sending them continuously to the Connect servers, while the detailed page shows the number of steps already stored on the cloud. So either there is some problem while syncing, or perhaps a caching problem, your phone not refreshing the full page. You can see which of it is the case, by looking at the steps in Garmin Connect Web at https://connect.garmin.com/app/steps - if the number of steps there is lower than on the glance too, then the steps were not properly synced yet. You can try syncing over the USB cable to Garmin Express. If there is some syncing problem, Garmin Express is more likely than Connect to show you some error message. And if the number is already updated there, then it looks like a caching problem. Try force-stopping the Connect app on the phone, and restarting it.
