Weekly step count total view... PLEASE

I am a new Vivoactive 6 user, coming from a decade of Fitbit use.  I am desperately looking for a weekly step count view.  Week to date, where a week starts on Monday and ends on Sunday.  Is there such a view available anywhere?

I have been sticking to a 100k weekly step count goal since 2016.  I can't really describe how much better this is than a daily step count goal - but nobody, including Fitbit allows me to set a weekly goal and gives me a progress view as the week progresses... oh well.  Fitbit at least very clearly and simply showed me a Mon - Sunday view along with a step total for the week.

So, first, is there any such view anywhere in the iOS app, or even in the browser?

Secondly... i cannot stress enough how useful a weekly step-count goal is for continued step tracking engagement.  Once a streak of meeting a weekly goal is earned, one does not want to break it.  I've been doing this 100k/week thing since 2016.  I've run multiple small-group step 'challenges' where we raise money for a cause by working together as a team for 4 weeks to meet team goals... i.e. I have a ton of experience on this topic. So ideally, not just a Mon-Sun week total view, but a goal, a view that shows pace/progress towards the goal, and the ability to put this on my home screen as the first tile I see when I launch the app.

Daily streaks just don't work for long-term motivation. Breaking a daily streak will just happen and once one has a daily streak going, it tends to just incur daily anxiety to not break it.  Once a daily streak is broken, one loses all interest in starting a new one. But with a weekly goal, there is no daily anxiety... except on Sunday if I am way behind!! It is much more engaging to work throughout the week to get to a total by Sunday night.

There is a weekly report at https://connect.garmin.com/app/steps/2026-05-10/3, though by default the start-end days of the reported weeks are changing each day. The last "week" is always the last 7 days from now, and so on backwards. If you really need to see Monday-to-Sunday stats, then the remedy is relatively simple - either always make a screenshot on Sunday, or temporarily change the system date of your computer (or phone) to the last (or the next) Sunday. That will shift the starting day to Monday. I just tested it now, and it works, though it took around a minute and 2 page reloads to get the stats rewritten accordingly.

The easiest and the most comfortable way, is joining the Weekly Steps Challenge (https://connect.garmin.com/app/auto-challenge), where you are assigned to a group of 10 random users with similar average number of weekly steps, and you can compete with them. You get also a leaderboard with your ranking and the weekly number of steps (Mon-Sun). BTW, this is also another good way to see your Mon-Sun weekly steps.

Otherwise you could also create walking (or running) distance goals at https://connect.garmin.com/app/goals/active, or distance Followers or Group Challenges at https://connect.garmin.com/app/challenge/create-challenge. Steps are not available for goals and challenges, but it is not too difficutl to convert the desired number of steps to a distance.

  • "...If you really need to see Monday-to-Sunday stats, then the remedy is relatively simple - either always make a screenshot on Sunday, or temporarily change the system date of your computer (or phone) to the last (or the next) Sunday" ... with all due respect, this is a ridiculous solution and is anything but 'relatively simple'.

Even joining a weekly step challenge is a hack, because I have to do it every week.

I live my life on a calendar week, not a rolliing 7 day 'week'.  I lift weights 3-times a week, not 3 times in the last 7 days... and I walk 100k steps a week, No matter how many steps I got last week, it resets to zero on Monday morning and I plan my week around making sure it is at least 100k by the time I turn off the lights on Sunday night.

There is no way this is unique to me. I'm not going to give up on Garmin just yet, I just spent $300 on this watch! ;) But for all of the apps, capabilities, features... I am amazed that something so basic and obvious as this is just completely missing.  All you'd have to do as a starting point is provide a setting to swap that 7d view to either the current rolling 7d or 1w.  You already have a 4w view, but even it is NOT a 4w view, it is a rolling 28d view.

Is there any chance such a feature could be implemented? If not, is there any kind of a forum that Connect IQ app developers pay attention to where I could suggest this?  I'd happily pay for an app that provides a weekly step goal experience.

I mean come on, who lives their lives on a 'rolling 7 day' or 'rolling 28 day' basis? :)

update: trux, I see now you are not a Garmin employee.  Do you know if Garmin monitors these forums or there is some other mechanism to have this conversation with them?

No, you don't. Join once, and you will be in a new challenge every week automatically.

It can happen that they comment on some threads, but as for feature requests like yours, they will only tell you to submit it at Share Ideas | Garmin. If you need a quick solution, use one of the workarounds, or use a third party app.
