Bug - stress alerts set to During Event in app and watch but never receive them

The relax reminders have not worked in my Venu 4 since I bought the watch months ago.

- Stress alerts are set to During Event in the Connect app

- Stress alerts are set to During Event in the Venu 4 watch

- I receive other notifications normally (such as the alerts that tell me a restful period has boosted my body battery)

- I experience periods of high stress (for hours) which shows in my stress graphs

- I have never received a stress alert

I have been trying to report this bug to Garmin for over a month now. I've had tons of interactions with customer support in the Netherlands which has been completely unhelpful. Furthest I got was "the devs can't reproduce". Honestly so frustrating. Anyone else experiencing this?

  • Unfortunately the documentation does not specify at which stress level and duration the alert triggers. It only states "relax reminder that appears when your watch detects that your stress levels are unusually high", which is a rather vague definition. It sounds as if it could trigger at people with low average stress, already when it detects some mild stress, while at persons constantly highly stressed, it would trigger only at an extremely high stress. Garmin also does not specify the minimal required duration of the high stress, and whether the alert should trigger within seconds, minutes, or tens of minutes of unusually high stress.

Perhaps, if you post a screenshot of your 4w Stress Report at https://connect.garmin.com/app/report/63/wellness/last_four_weeks (showing the averages), and the Stress chart for the day that you believe should trigger the alert, we could see some clues why the alert does not happen.

  • Thanks, I would for example have expected an alert February 7th, where high stress was also listed as one of the factors contributing to a low body battery.

  • Yes, it indeed looks like the alert should have happened. I recommend posting on the Venu 4 forum, to see whether other owners of the same model have similar experience. Here, you are on the forum for the Connect app, and it is uncertain whether any Venu 4 owner will see your post.

If other users do receive the Relax Reminders, then I'd first try resetting the watch to factory defaults, and wait three weeks (to establish a reliable stress baseline). If it does not help, then I'd request a replacement watch from Garmin (assuming your watch is still under warranty).

  • Thanks, I also posted on the other forum yesterday but no replies so far. Customer support just emailed me they want me to send the watch to them because they suspect a defect. I did see someone post about this issue on Reddit: www.reddit.com/.../
