run not registering as garmin coach training planned run

I had a 27:00 run at 10:25 pace scheduled for today, as part of my Garmin Coach Training Plan. I’m not sure what happened, but I logged the run, and it did not register as me completing today’s training. Instead it just registered as a standalone run. I really want it to register as part of the plan, since that’s what it was.

i restarted my watch and now the plan is just showing that today was a scheduled rest day, so now there’s even less chance that I can make this run register as part of the training plan.

is there any fix for this? Can I make the plan “remember” that today I had a planned run, and also register my run as part of the plan? See the pictures below for reference.

  •   - I've just reached out to you over email about this, with the subject of "CT: run not registering as garmin coach training planned run". Please be on the lookout for that message soon.

  • I had something similar today: I started a ride without starting the Fitness Coach workout. Now it isn’t registering the ride and tells me i didn’t complete the day.
mit would be nice to be able to assign a workout to an activity in Connect like it can be done in Training Peaks.

  • Is there a fix for this? I have a similar issue. Yesterday's planned run was made with 100% Accuracy but not marked in the plan as done. I can not see any way of connecting the registered run as part of the plan. It says skipped run although it is logged on the same day.

Is there a solution to correct this in the plan ?

  • Thank you for the comments,  and  .

This most commonly occurs due to a change being made to the schedule of a workout for a Coach plan, and the device not syncing prior to loading the workouts. This can also occur if activity was not recorded following the workout sent by the plan on the device, usually due to the workout being accessed via the "Workouts" or "My Workouts" option on the device instead of the "Training Calendar" option. A best practice would be to sync the device prior to starting any workouts on the device and to access the workouts via the "Training Calendar".

  • Best practice is a nice thing . But it would be even better to make it working reliable when we choose a workout from the workout menu. I mean, it’s meant to be a place to choose workouts or not?

Marking a activity with a planned workout should be retroactively should be implemented to help at all the cases Garmin devices don’t link recorded activities to workouts created by Garmin algorithms.

  • You do not need to bother about it, if you did not start the right scheduled workout correctly. It does not matter if the scheduled workout appears as completed or not. The watch sees the training load, the recovery time, VO₂max, and other metrics, and will update the training plan accordingly anyway, in order to coach you to your goal.
