Unable to pair Garmin device to Garmin Connect iOS

With the new update of the Connect app for iOS (5.21.0.28), the way the bluetooth pairing is done with a Garmin device seems to have changed. It is now listed as an accessory for iOS.

However, with the new Connect version I cannot pair my GPSMAP H1 anymore. I can pair with Explore app just fine, but when trying to connect to the Connect app, the app doesn't find the H1. I tried various combinations, like trying to pair only with Connect app, or first with Explore app and then with Connect app, but only pairing with Explore seems to work. The Connect app asks to search for an accessory, but it keeps searching without finding the H1 and eventually reports it cannot find any accessory. Manually selecting the device model in Connect app also doesn't work.

How can I connect my H1 with the Connect app?

  • Mine is still bugging out. Got rid of my forerunner965 from BT, hard rest on the device, app updated, both phone and watch turned off and still unable to connect. The device doesn’t even come up on BT and won’t even allow me to pair it to my phone. Nearly went out and bought a new one as I thought it was a watch issue so I hope it’s figured out soon as it’s a joke it’s taking this long to fix

  • Had that issue last night. Device couldn't be found. Removed from Bluetooth, restarted both watch and phone- nothing worked. Decided to uninstall/reinstall the Connect app. Signed into account (Garmin) and it initiated pairing. Little while later an app update reappeared for the Connect app again and took the chance and installed it and had no problems.

  • Which Garmin connect version was your latest update? I read a version 5.21.1.1 solved the issue, but in Australia we still do not have that update yet for iOS

  • At least now we have a message from the garmin acknowledging the issue, which is affecting multiple users.

  • Yeah it's 5.21.1 that I installed last night after reinstalling the app....didn't pay any attention to what the version was that unpaired a few hours earlier and didn't even notice the problem until I got home from work.

  • Same here. I did all, what is on garmin support site. Have Epix 2 pro. I deleted watch from bluetooth, restarted epix and iphone... iphone do not find epix anymore... Garmin Connect is on 5.21.1.1... I am completly pissed

  • Once again, Garmin provided a miserable update...

  • I have tried the below and still no luck with my vivoactive 5 - anyone have any other ideas?

    • I removed device from Garmin connect and from forgot it in iPhone Bluetooth.
    • restarted both devices
    • Tried to repair by initiating in Garmin connect app as well as by scanning the QR code on watch face but the connect app cannot find my device.
  • Even after installing supposedly the bug fix using GC 5.21.1 and following the instructions, it still won’t pair (Forerunner 955).

  • Same here.  I've removed my Enduro 3 from iOS numerous times, tried rebooting the phone and watch, etc. This is infuriating! I do have version 5.21.1 of the app installed. Whether I start the pairing process via GC or iOS, the watch gets added via Bluetooth but GC just refuses to see it.
