Device Is Not Paired After Updating My Garmin Connect App (5.21) on iOS

Hello everyone. Since the day I updated to iOS 26, my phone and my watch have not been able to connect to each other via Garmin Connect. I’ve tried everything that has been suggested on the forum, but I haven’t been able to solve the issue.

Should I be waiting for an update from Garmin or from Apple regarding this problem? I’m not even sure if I’m the only one experiencing it.

Thanks in advance to anyone who can help.

!!!UPDATE!!!

Hi everyone,

After months of struggling with an issue, I finally managed to resolve it by working closely with both Apple and Garmin technical support teams.

I wanted to share the key steps here in case it helps others who might be facing the same problem:

  1. If you’re using any VPNs, remove all of them completely and restart your phone.

  2. If, like me, you manage your children’s Screen Time from your own phone, you’ll need to disable this temporarily. Screen Time must be turned off during the process. After disabling it, restart your phone.

  3. Under Privacy & Security settings, make sure that location permissions for the Garmin apps are enabled.

  4. When deleting the Garmin Connect app, make sure to delete Garmin Connect IQ at the same time. Then turn off Bluetooth and restart your phone again. After that, reinstall both Garmin Connect and Connect IQ and try pairing again.

Following these steps allowed my phone to successfully connect to Garmin Connect.

As I mentioned, this may not work for everyone, but it did the trick for me—hopefully it helps point some of you in the right direction.

Best of luck!

  • I was able to reconnect by pairing from the watch via the query code. It varies with each model but usually under settings, connections, phone, pair.  Good luck

  • Hola tengo el mismo problema con el Fenix8 51 mm

  • Same problem over here, any fix already?

  • I was able to reconnect my Venue 3 after removing it in the app and Bluetooth settings of my iPhone. After reconnecting, I still face the problem that I cannot view my activities in the app anymore. The app in general is very slow and I allways get a „Network issue“ when trying to look at my activities.

  • Same here. It seems that, after installing 5.21, my Garmin Forerunner 235 no longer sends Bluetooth signal, since not only my iPhone, but also my iPad and MacBook can't see it.

And 5.21.1 definitely did NOT solve the problem.

  • Firstly, none of this works for me and obviously several other users, although Garmin seem very quiet on how many users are still affected by their faulty update. Secondly, Garmin offer zero technical support to users, as indicated by their “oh why don’t you try this “ “it seems to have worked for some users” and “good luck” oh and by the way “we are unable to respond to you individually “

  • With update 5.21.2 and following Garmin support instruction it finally worked for me. You have to remove the watch from Bluetooth list on iPhone and then let Connect find the watch

  • I finally managed to reconnect my Epic Pro

go to Bluetooth settings on your phone and ignore the device if not yet done so.

delete the connect app from the phone and restart your phone

    restart the watch

install the connect app and login in to your account. important, ignore the paring request after login. click on later.

go to the watch connectivity - connect smartphone, take your phone and scan the QR code.

the app will open an voila, watch will appear in the connection process, confirm the code ist the same and click on Done on the phone, don't wait to long to click on "done"

  • I had to repair the phone.

    • Already set up: Press and hold the button, go to Settings > System > Connectivity > Phone, then select Pair Phone to show a QR code.
