Garmin Connect Update resets device connections

Every time Garmin Connect updates, device connections reset and I have to add my Garmin Edge 530 again, which is a pain in the ass. It's really frustrating that a huge company with such an experience still can't manage a seamless update with a technology that is 30+ years old. With the latest update I can't add it at all, after following all the troubleshooting steps including restarting all the devices and sacrificing my own blood and praying to all the gods, a f*cking bluetooth connection cannot be made between your device and your app. This is disgraceful. I've even disabled auto updates in the app store, but you still push through your meaningless updates. I just need it to upload my rides, modularize your updates, try not to remove the device each time, or are you doing it on purpose so that we a newer version? If I was to buy a new bike computer, switching to wahoo.

  • Strange, it never happened to me over the last decade, and with a dozen of Garmin devices, so I wonder what could be the reason that it happens to you each time. I have an older iPhone though, so perhaps there is some setting on the newest iOS, causing the disconnection. I do not remember seeing many similar complaints on the iOS forum. It is a more common problem of certain Android phone models dropping and forgetting BLE connection due to weak BT/WiFi separation filters (for example Samsung A2* line, or Pixels are known for that). On Android phones, resetting the network can help, since BT and Wi-Fi channels are reassigned, and can then be separated with a wider gap, preventing the interference.

  • I'm having the exact same problems with Edge 530 after this update.  Just refuses to connect.  Disgraceful.  I've had Garmins for nearly 30 years.  I'm out. Next purchase will be anything else!
