[Feature Request] Gram-level serving size granularity in new Food Logging feature in Connect+

I’ve recently started using the new Food Logging feature in Connect+.
For the past few years I’ve logged all my food intake in Cronometer, where serving sizes can be very granular.

One thing I’m currently missing in Connect+ is the ability to log food in single-gram increments.
For many products, the default serving size is fixed at 100 grams.

At the moment, the only workaround is to keep the serving size at 100 grams and enter a fractional number of servings (e.g. 0.75 for 75 grams). While this works functionally, it’s not a great user experience and makes quick, accurate logging more cumbersome.

It would be a significant usability improvement if:

  • Serving size could be set to 1 gram, and

  • The number of servings could then simply reflect the actual grams consumed (e.g. 75 servings = 75 grams).

This would make food logging faster, clearer, and more precise—especially for users who already track nutrition at a detailed level.

  • That's my biggest complaint as well. I weigh most of my servings - especially the more calorie dense ones.

What would be also great, is a possibility to quickly add some more weight for a given entry. For example, I've already logged 57g of jam, but decided to get another portion, that weighs 26g.

  • I agree. I would REALLY like this to be my primary mode of tracking but I don't think I am going to hang for long if I have to keep doing math every time I eat an apple

    • Completely agree! Seems like an obvious thing to have included.
  • This. 100% this. Whoever decided that nutrition tracking is always in "serving size" never used a single other nutrition tracker. I'll be canceling my trial immediately.

  • Agreed! I think it’s a bug somewhere as my serving sizes are ‘100g’ or ‘100 g’ as if there is intentionally a second serving size.

  • I also don't understand who thought we all eat 100g's of food per sitting of everything. Also, why not have like 1 oz. or the extra serving size of most things is 28 grams so why are they making it so much more complicated. They need to look at MyFitnessPal to see why most people were using that.

  • I have an entirely unfounded (so speculation) feeling that their nutrition feature is linked to MFP in some way. Purely based on the requirement to set your region for barcode scanning to work and the fact you need to disconnect your MFP from your Garmin account before being able to use their nutrition feature

  • Thank you for the feedback and feature request. We recommend submitting it to our design team using our Ideas Portal so it can be considered for possible future use.
