Garmin Connect missing from share card in Google and Apple Maps in iOS26.

When sharing a map location from either Google or Apple Maps, you could previously share to Garmin Connect and use that to route to that location. This has gone missing in iOS26.

This looks to be an iOS 26 specific issue as others have reported the same throughout the iOS26 Beta. Those enrolled in the public beta are now receiving the final release version, so this bug will be present on release day unless there's a Garmin Connect update.

It's still possible to share a GPX file to the Connect App, however, so it's not all share cards the Connect is missing from.

I share this to raise awareness rather than looking for a fix, this will almost certainly be dependent on an update from Gamin. All other apps I use this functionality with are working fine - Wahoo, MyBMW among others, so I don't think this is an iOS bug.

  • I can confirm that as of tonight this feature is now working again. It’s taken a long time but it’s good to have Apple Map sharing to Garmin back. It’s so much easier to send a destination this way than to use the fiddly interface on the Edge Device.

It has been thought that an update to the Connect App was the solution but despite having two updates to the app over the last couple of months the issue remained.

I can’t say what fixed it today as my app has not been updated recently and neither has my IOS version. I am on IOS 26.01. Something has obviously changed but it’s not been done through a regular update. Anyone got any ideas what fixed it?

  • Yes! Works again for me as well. I also did not recently update GC or iOS. It’s a mystery, but I love it.

  • For me it now works from Apple maps but not Google? This morning there was an update for Garmin Jr. in case that can have something to do with it?

  • I've now got a new iphone 17 pro running ios 26.1 and was hoping that the problem would sort itself, but no... :-(

It still doesn't work from Google Maps, but do work from Apple maps.

  • Another update of Connect installed, but still not possible to send locations from Google maps. Will this ever be sorted?

  • Sharing from Google Maps is not possible and never has been to my knowledge. You can share only from Apple Maps at present.

if you have an Android phone then you cannot install the native Apple Maps app so I am not sure if you can share using Apple Maps on the web. I will try this on my Android phone.

    • Hi!
was this fixed? At this rate Garmin is really underperforming…. I paid over 300£ for a basic watch that i cant even use maps with :(

at this rate any regular smart watch seems to be better

  • Yes this has been fixed. Please note however that this post relates to the sharing function between Apple Maps and Garmin Edge Devices. This has been fixed for some time now. Sharing from Google Maps to Garmin is not supported to my knowledge.

  • I see…. Thanks! So anyone that doesn't have an edge doesn't have maps allowed?

Tbh it just occurred to me ( after purchase ) that having navigation is not the standard for Garmin and is only available to the premium watches and not the average range.

Any chance this would be made available for forerunner 265 at all ever?

  • I don’t know much about the watches but if the watch has navigation built in then sharing from Apple Maos should work. The share function from maps just makes the process of entering your destination easier. It’s fiddly to set a destination using the Edge Interface. Watches may well be similarly fiddly.
