Spotify Music Issue - Volume

Is anybody else having an issue changing the volume of their spotify music on a vivoactive 5? The slider on the watch screen will not change music volume up or down. It’s just stuck in the middle!

Does it work if you change the volume with the controls on the headphones?

They’re AirPods and not the ones where you can change it by tapping etc…

I have a theory that head phones without volume controls got issues with controlling the volume from the watch.
