Garmin should read Apple Health Data

It is extremely disappointing from a brand like Garmin to use lame commercial tricks to force buying their hardware. Scales and weight measurement topic has been on this forum for years and Garmin is not listening.

There are many great scales on the market. Garmin has one, not bad but not the best. But the fact Garmin is not even trying to read data stored in Apple Health from other brands is a very low blow.

Like many other happy Garmin watch users, I have a smart scale from another brand. Data is precise and useful. Having to manually enter my weight in the Connect app is just plain from another age.

Garmin, stop this nonsense. Embrace technology better. Read Apple data and make your users even happier.

  • Most scales can be paired with MyFitnessPal, and from there it syncs to Garmin Connect automatically.

  • Indeed, I know about the trick (and thanks for reminding here). But it's an additional complexity that could be so easily avoided if Garmin was a bit more collaborative like all the other brands.

    Integrations with Apple Health:

    Withings: Read and Write

    MyFitnessPal: Read and Write

    JEFIT: Read and Write

Most other health related apps: Read and Write

    and Garmin Connect.... just Write.

Why do we have to install an additional app like MyFitnessPal when Garmin coud JUST read the data integrated in Apple Health... It's just nonsense to me.

  • You can try suggesting it to Garmin at Share Ideas | Garmin, though I doubt they'd add support of a competitor's system which would potentially steer away users from one of their main business partners (MFP).

  • Good point. Idea submitted now. Let's see how much Garmin listens to its faithful users :) Thanks again for your comments and suggestions ! Appreciated!
