"Offline" functionality for Garmin Connect Mobile

Ok... I don't know how many people would actually need this but hear me out.

I was recently onboard a ship for 15 days with no internet access. No biggie. I am sure there is plenty of storage onboard the watch itself for two weeks of all day data and several indoor workouts.

It was interesting/frustrating that I could not see the workout since I could not sync. Why would I need to sync with Garmin to simply get the treadmill run from the watch to the phone and then being able to add pictures or make any edits I may need.

I also think it would be beneficial to be able to see all your activities even if they have not been sent to Garmin Connect.

  • As for some (limited) offline functionality, have a look at the Garmin Explore app. Also, I think, the old app Base Camp may be useful in that sens (I have no personal experience with Base Camp, though).

Photos cannot be added offline, since they have to be uploaded to your Garmin Connect account on Garmin's servers. Same with edits - Connect does not store data locally, so for edits you have to be able to connect to the server. And I am afraid it is not going to change anytime soon (if ever at all), though you can certainly try to suggest it to Garmin at Share Ideas | Garmin

  • I submitted my idea. I doubt it will go anywhere since it something that won't apply to most people. The last time I was on a deployment it was back in 2006 and things were slightly different back then lol

In my mind it can't be that difficult but it is easier said than done
