Paused Garmin Coach plan has been completed

Hello,

I was 13 weeks into my Garmin Coach plan but had to pause it due to a holiday where I would be doing several big hikes.

Now back from holiday all of a sudden my plan is complete.

Searching the internet I found that this happens if the planned race has passed. Which it did.

But why is the plan completed? The race was no event but just a date, I did not record a running activity and the plan is paused.

Selecting a new race date on the web gives me an error and the mobile app has no option for it. How can I uncomplete the plan so that I can do the last few weeks of the plan? Can I contact support to get the plan reopened?

I'm sorry but this is making me feel very angry, sad and frustrated. Worked so hard to this point and now I don't get to finish it and get a time.

  • Why do you start a plan if you can't finish it? It makes no sense to continue the plan where you left off.

The purpose of a plan is to get your fitness to peak form by a set date.

There should be no more than 72 hours between training sessions. Otherwise your fitness will drop again and you will not reach your goal by the specified date.

The race was no event but just a date,

If you don't need a coach for a specific event, I suggest using the dsw function, which gives you daily suggestions for training based on your current condition.

  • No sense? I'm sorry but that is a very strange comment, even a bit mean.

Garmin Coach allows you to train for a certain distance (and a certain time). I'm coming from nothing and want to run a 5k distance. I used it to train my body to be able to run the distance. DSW is not intended for that goal.

It doesn't matter if there is no event at the end of it, my goal was to run a 5k at the end of the plan.

When I started the plan many weeks ago I didn't know I was going on holiday.

Resuming the plan you can pick a new date, which would be fine for me. I did it before to due to an injury and it worked fine.

Yes there will be a drop in performance but I knew that the moment I paused the plan. The new date would add more weeks to the plan so it would allow me to get back to the level before I paused it.

Regardless, Garmin allows you to pause the plan, so it should support a 100% working version of that functionality

  • If the set date has passed then it is natural that the plan will complete. You have to change the date before it ends.

  • Well yes. But when I paused the plan I didn't know I had to change the date, the App didn't notify me about too. And now I can't change it anymore

  • That use case is a bit odd. Usually you set a date for when the plan should complete. Typically a race or a date when the goal should be met. If that date has passed then the plan is obsolete.
