Garmin connect primary benefit and training status wrong due to potentially overestimated vo2max despite max hr update

Hello all

My wife is cycling with edge 1040 and wears a forerunner 255s daily. She uses edge 1040 as the primary device for her training with polar h10 and assioma favero unos. I use exactly the same equipment and do similar workouts on my end but I never had this issue and primary benefit and training status are very accurate for me.

Weirdly most of the sessions that she does shows as base for primary benefit. For example you can see her latest ride as a 80 min sweet spot session but it still shows base. Even though most power and hr time was spent in zone 3 and 4.

One of the potential reasons I have been thinking is that auto detect for her max hr was too high at 195 while we believe it is lower for her around 183 184. It has been a while since I updated all of her hr zones based on lthr which is around 165/166 and her max hr as 183. I believe because of this her vo2max is also quite overestimated, as we have been training for endurance sports only for 1 year properly so far.

So even though we turned off all auto detects now such as max hr/lthr and ftp, and inputted them manually since 1 month, garmin connect still does not update the vo2max.

Therefore it shows for her as maintaining even though her training load is relatively high. She is quite frustrated from this.

Not sure if it is relavant but she also does 3 4 yoga sessions per week with lots of time in zone 1 and sometimes zone 2.

Do you have any idea what might be off here and how to get the vo2max properly updated?
