Climbing expeditions with Venu SQ

This was previously asked with the Venu SQ 2 but never answered.

I see all these climbing expeditions, and I’d really like to take part in one, but even though my activities track elevation gain, it never seems to affect any elevation challenges. What am I doing wrong?

  • What am I doing wrong?

You need a watch with a barometric altimeter. Venu SQ 2 does not have one. It uses GPS for the elevation. For example Venu 2 (non SQ) does have a barometric altimeter, as well as the majority of other Garmin's watches.

  • Neither the Venu SQ nor the Venu SQ 2 has a barometric altimeter—it uses GPS to estimate elevation, which is not sufficient or consistent for expedition challenges or to track floors.
